Well, I've been slightly absent from the bloogy scene...so much going on here at home that I'm just spent, plain and simple!
On Sunday the boys and I snuck out to a movie with my mom and my sister and brother-in-law. My sister called on our way into town, saying that she'd bought the boys candy for the movie. Don't ask..its a family thing to sneak food into the theater...all started with my Gma and her "movie purse" that held sandwich baggies of popcorn...pretty slick until you try to nonchalantly open a CAN of pop!!!
Anyway, I digress....we get ourselves all situated in the semi-crowded theater: pops evenly spaced between the children, buckets of popcorn within reach of everyone, etc. Then my sister passes out the boys' boxes of candy (yes BOXES!). They love gummy anything, so Crys thought they'd get a kick out of Gummie Boogers...yes...you read it right...boogers!
Just picture it, boys with booger candy...in a crowded theater! "Hey Uncle Duane...would you like to try one of my boogers?". "Mom, do you like my boogers?". "Mmmmm, these boogers taste good!". Trust me it couldn't get any worse! Seriously they were gross...basically, if the gummy factory took all of their leftover gummy mix(?), smooshed it all together and then processed it into blobs, there you'd have it...gummie boogers!
Thanks for the movie mom and thanks Crys and Duane for the boogers...really...from the bottom of my heart! (Just wait till you have munchkins!)

Quilt Show
Before heading off to our uber-romantic weekend...I snuck off to a quilt show. I met up with Lori and then we headed down the street to our friend Joyce's quilt show. It was held in this cute little church with the quilts hung over the pews....very interesting way to display them! I was expecting like 20 quilts, but there were over 100!!! Busy Ladies!!!

What a Great Weekend!!!!
Most people find awesome romantic spots to celebrate their anniversaries....we head north....to a hole in the wall bar, Baumgartner's. They have the world's best cheese sandwich according to my dad.....yep....plain rye bread and a hunk of cheese...yum...ha! But if you get their awesome chili and dip said sandwich it's pretty good!
Then we head further up into cheese country to New Glarus, home of New Glarus Brewery....our fave brewer of fine beers! Last year this new facility wasn't even open! It's Beautiful!
My favorite sight in all the world!

Words to live by!
These stairs lead up to the brewing area for my favorite beer....Berliner Weiss.
Here's our stash from the "gift shop" :)
We ended the night with some munchies, beer and a few movies from Blockbuster! This is Jim watching Get Smart! (he's a nut when it's a funny movie)On Sunday we headed into town to Bergners. They had a Kitchenaide knife set on sale for $50....normally $150....Yes Please!

We decided to stop at Red Robin before heading back to paint the house (sounds like fun huh?!?)....isn't this flag the coolest? 320 baseballs....hmmmm....where can I find some cheap baseballs?

All Blocked Up
My mom has the cutest little family blocks. Each one has letters on each side and then they all together spell a ton of different things. I loved the blocks...hated the price! I am way to cheap and the blocks were a touch on the small side for my tastes.
I had Jim cut me some wooden blocks. He said that all I need was to sand them....they were way too rough and I was way too lazy to do that :)
...so.....I took my handy dandy drywall compound and drywalled the blocks. Once they dried, I just had to easily sand the compound down....PERFECT!
I painted each one a different color and then traced the letters on each side.

Painting white letters was not so fun. I couldn't find my fine tip paint brush....BOYS!!! Anyway, I did the best I could. I think I might take a black sharpie to outline the letters....maybe antique the blocks with some burnt umber paint...I don't know, but for now that'll do!
Sorry for the terrible pictures....If the sun would ever decide to shine it would be a miracle! I'm linking the to Kimba's DIY Day!

Sunday Inspiration
I admit that I've struggled a bit this last week. Things are still so very much in the air. I came across this Psalm the other day...it is now my victory cry!
Psalm 20
May the Lord answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.
May he remember all your sacrifices
and accept your burnt offerings.
May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
We will shout for joy when you are victorious
and will lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the Lord grant all your requests.
Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed;
he answers him from his holy heaven
with the saving power of his right hand.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.
O Lord, save the king!
Answer when we call!

I Love My Beloved....
...and my beloved loves me.
Later today a pretty generic post will pop up for our anniversary. The more I thought of it the more I had to add, but this pesky blackberry won't help me out :/
I adore the picture on it....my hero, working hard at saving lives.
Eleven years have gone by since rings and vows were exchanged. As I sit here in the silence of early morning, I'm reminded of how blessed I am. Blessed to have such an amazing man to have and to hold, to cherish from this moment forward....and all of that wedding jazz.
He's my best friend...the only one who can see through all of my defenses and cut straight through the bull. Eleven years of screaming fights, broken hearts and millions of tears shed...quiet moments, arm's embrace and countless beats of the heart. But through it all a love that runs deeper and stronger then the day I walked the isle.
Song of Solomon 8:6-7
Place me like a seal over your heart,
like a seal on your arm;
for love is as strong as death,
its jealousy unyielding as the grave.
It burns like blazing fire,
like a mighty flame.
Many waters cannot quench love;
rivers cannot wash it away.
If one were to give all the wealth of his house for love,
it would be utterly scorned.
I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine.

6 Is SuperRiffic!
Today, my baby turns 6....where did the time go?!?
It seems like overnight he went from a snuggly little pudgy baby to a big kid!
All he talked about for his birthday was this r.c. motocross bike. Jamie worked his tail off, doing chores for grandmas and a lemon aid stand to earn enough money to buy his little brother his heart's desire! (what a sweet kid!) All 3 boys were so excited all morning, waiting for dad to come home so that they could have Riley open the present....you'd have thought we were going to DisneyLand or something!!!

L.Y.B.O. Wednesday
(laugh your butt off Wednesday)
Nothing makes my day like a good parody!
After breakfast, I asked the boys to go upstairs and get dressed so that we could start school...Jamie came down dressed like this....little did I know that I'd be schooling Jack Sparrow today! :)

Kinex ARE NOT Ear Pieces!
Earlier this afternoon, Riley came downstairs crying. All I knew was that his ear hurt and he was freakin' out! Finally, I was able to get it out of him that he had stuck a Kinex in his ear while playing army.....great.
Drove to meet Jim (who was working of course). He tried to get it out, but nothing...went to an immediate clinic which wasn't very immediate AND they couldn't get the thing to budge:
Do you think he's reconsidering ever putting something in his ear again?!?

With the wasted trip to the immediate care, we ended up at a local ER....not fun on a full moon. (they should make a website like thepeopleofwalmart.com)
After waiting forever in an ER full of sick and battered people, we finally got into a fast track room....here he's looking pretty calm and collected....but once the Dr. came in and started messing with him, he screamed bloody murder!
They ended up papoosing him down...had 2 nurses holding his head while I held his strapped down arms and we got it out!
Riley...are we ever going to do that again? NO!

Da Apron
Well, it took me all day Friday to sew 3 aprons.....making the pattern, calling my grandma to figure out how to ruesh (?) the middle section and then all day fighting with the bobbin!!!!
Each apron used just under a yard of the green fabric and 1/2 yard of the brown. I just folded an apron in half and drew out the pattern on freezer paper, making the top a little bit wider (but on pretty petite Amber, I needed to go back and finagle it a bit shorter). ETA: for the straps I just eye balled it...I think I used 24" x 4" for the neck strap....folded in half, sewn with a 3/8's seam and then ironed the heck out of it. Did the same for the 2 back ties except cut on the fold of the fabric 36" (total) x 6". The neck and waist trim was fumbly, but I didn't know how else to do it...2" piece measured to just over the length needed, ironed in 1/2 and then halves folded in. For the waist band I then opened the first fold and ironed it flat so that I'd have a wider band, but no open seams. I am in no way an expert or even a good seamstress....just made it do....it's an apron anyway, it's just meant to get dirty!
All in all, I think they turned out pretty decent! (in the background is Amber's mom who was making us breakfast for Amber's birthday!!! Mmmmm gotta love a good southern breakfast!......isn't her kitchen the cutest?!?!)

Dustin' Off My Sew Macheeen Baby!
I have a love/hate relationship with my sewing machine....I love all the cool projects I see, but I hate hauling it out, plugging it in...taking over my already cluttered dinning room table!
A family friend is getting married on Saturday and my mom and I are helping with the reception. I decided apron's would be a good thing....now if only we could find pretty ones! There are tons of them out there in blog land....lots of books and patterns for sale, but I don't want to spend $$ on something I think I can figure out myself...hopefully....PRAY that I can figure it out!!!
I'll post pictures later of the finished product.....now I'm off to try and make a hot mess...or is that a bad thing?!?!? :)
