Don't Cry Over Broken Glasses!

Don't cry over broken glasses...sounds pretty simple huh~ ahhh, but not so!

It amazes me how something so insignificant can rock relationships. Satan is one sneaky turkey! We all have our little things that set us off: Jim's is spending money unexpectedly, mine is feeling worthless....perfect combo when it's MY glasses that broke! (Jim is blessed with wonderful eye sight so he has no clue what it's like to not be able to see or why I hate my other pair of glasses...same Rx as the other just not right...don't ask!)

So that's how I spent the first day of my New Year...squabbling over glasses. I felt bad, Jim felt bad..but did that fix anything....no we are both two Very stubborn people!

Needless to say, Saturday night at Church the subject was on resolutions. When you break it down resolve, might as well be RE-solve...we are constantly messing up and having to start back at square one (whether it's a diet, stopping smoking...which is the #1 resolution, or being a good spouse!)

Why do we mess up? Well, for me it's usually because I loose focus. I take my eyes off the prize and end up falling on my face...hmmm kind of like if I wasn't wearing my glasses....gotta love God's sense of humor!!!

I came across this verse on Saturday night. Once again God gave me a good smack in the forhead! Wake up! Jim really isn't the boob he was sounding like! We were both being played....

1 Peter 5:8-10

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered for a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

So...be steadfast, keep your eyes on the prize, remember that there is a constant battle being waged over you (..for you), and take heart in the truth that through Jesus we have already won!
