Saturday was day one of the baking craziness!
My sister and brother-in-law came to help (and brought all of their fancy schmancy kitchen gadgets)
My mom came too...and helped until the. Very. End! (she is a much better person than I am...seriously, I was about 2 seconds way from having a major temper tantrum...IN The Church Kitchen!!!)
This picture doesn't even begin to show ALL of the ingredients it takes to make 50 dozen peanut butter cookies!!! 10 boxes of butter, 40 eggs, 25 lbs of sugar, and can't remember how many packages of flour and brown sugar we used....oh and 10 lbs of Peanut Butter!!!
That huge bowl was constantly filled, emptied, refilled...and filled some more!!!
In the end we had 583 cookies...not quite 50 dozen, but good enough for me!!!
I was SO tired. My legs hurt. ALL that I could think about was--Crap, we're only half way done....and These Were The Easy Ones!!!! I still only smell peanut butter....
My attitude was even stinkier!
Then I came home, tired, sore, and awful....
Jamie called me over because I just had to watch this video...
V8 smacking my forehead....
Me, Me, Me...thoughts of what was I thinking taking this on....all this garbage, when my focus really is on helping Hackleburg!
I love that my 11 year old gets this better than I do........
(and now I'm crying, thankful that even though I'm a selfish mess up...my son Rocks!)

and why do those v8 smacks have to hurt so darn much?!? Keep your goal in sight girl. What your doing is impacting way more than Hackleburg. Your boys will always remember how their parents served and led by example.
THis is such a great project. And your kids are lucky to have such great parents, and ones who embrace their wishes to serve. I wanted to come help bake Saturday but I had a funera. So I increased a donation check by the gas cost from Elburn to Freeport and popped it in the mail today. Blessings on your project
You have so much to be proud of. You are doing a wonderful job with your boys. God is so proud of you, and we are not perfect, we are human. God is smiling on you again today, my friend. Hugs!
You are NOT selfish. Look at how many people you got involved to share some love.
We all feel that way sometimes. I think that is normal. I think so much of you for doing this. You will be blessed.
